De universiteit schrijft: “Over nearly 70 years the comic book has evolved into one of the most vital yet underappreciated art forms in American popular culture. Through iconic characters ranging from the everymen of alternative comics to the demigods of superhero fantasy, comics have produced modern mythologies portraying contemporary America. Each semester of this course will cover a different selection of works by major creators in this medium. Concentrating on the fantasy genre, we will study such authors as Kurt Busiek Astro City, Chris Claremont X-Men, Will Eisner, Neil Gaiman Sandman, Jack Kirby New Gods, Frank Miller, and Alan Moore, among others.
